A: The mission of The BOLD Girl Collective is to empower Black and Brown girls to recognize their inherent value, build resilience in the face of adversity, and cultivate unwavering confidence in their identities. We equip girls with strong social-emotional skills to help them navigate life and grow into the bold leaders of tomorrow.
The BOLD Girl Collective creates a safe and affirming space for Black and Brown girls to gather twice a month, fostering conversations around identity, leadership, racism, social justice, and girls’ rights — helping them discover the power of their voice and the impact they can make.
A: The BOLD Girl Collective has been empowering girls and making an impact since 2016.
A: Enrollment begins each July for parents to register their BOLD Girl as an interested participant through our website.
Official registration is completed through Columbus Parks and Recreation on their main program site, which opens in the fall and remains open during our program calendar (August to May).
Our programming is divided into 6-week cohorts, and registration closes after Week 3 of each cohort.
A: Mentoring sessions are hosted at various Columbus Parks and Recreation Centers.
A: Sessions are held on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for six consecutive weeks during the months of September through April.
We celebrate the end of the program year in May with our annual Family Appreciation / Mother’s Day Brunch.
A: Yes. Our core program currently serves Black and Brown girls in grades K–9.
We also host community-wide events (like our HERstory Panel and the It’s Okay To Be You Conference) open to Black and Brown girls of all ages.
A: Our focus is primarily on group mentoring.
Families seeking one-on-one mentorship may request accommodations by speaking directly with our Program Directoror Executive Director to discuss goals and expectations.
A: We encourage parent participation and support.
Our mission is to plant seeds of abundant growth in your BOLD Girl. She will be guided by inspiring mentors, volunteers, and guest speakers, gaining valuable lessons at every session.
A: Absolutely! We empower each BOLD Girl with tools to:
Build self-confidence
Form healthy relationships
Resolve conflicts
Make wise decisions
Work in teams
Develop practical life skills
We use diverse learning methods including lectures, hands-on activities, simulations, role play, affirmations, videos, guest speakers, books, and field trips.
A: There is a $60 material fee per cohort. This covers:
A BOLD Girl Collective T-shirt
Snacks and supplies
Field trips
General programming costs
This fee is non-refundable after Week 2 or once the T-shirt is ordered.
🎓 Columbus Parks & Recreation offers a PLAY Grant Scholarship for eligible families — reducing the cost to $40.
Note: Our end-of-season Family Appreciation Brunch has a separate attendance fee.
A: While The BOLD Girl Collective does not directly offer scholarships, we encourage families to apply for the PLAY Grant Scholarship through Columbus Parks and Recreation.
